Boxing Gyms
|
Anyone trained in one before?
There's one down the street from my office, do one on one boxing training.
They train you as they would a fighter, not going to fight but I've heard it's a brutal but effective way of getting in shape (I drastically need to).

I'll commit to it say 4 times a week, I get bored with just "going down the gym" and goand sit in the steam room so with a program and someone keeping me on track I'll see better results.
good few pro's train at this place also so it'll be interesting.

downtown Las Vegas, I called Mayweather's gym as it's walking distance but you have to be invited to train there & they'd never heard of me!

I was out of shape before I moved to America but 2 1/2 years later I've got a job where I'm out to lunch pretty much everyday & I'm the heaviest I've ever been.
A mate trained at a place in Romford and it's kocked 3 stone off him so need to do the same.

It's as tough as you make it...no one is going push you beyond your limits. With a good club .. boxing is one of the best workouts you can get. If you/ have the dedication go for it..it's well worth it.

I think I'll find it more interesting than the excerise bike for example so I'll stick with it.

You do know part of the training will be sparring?
And you will have to do it.
I have a few pals who train at boxing gyms and they have all said people do come in and say they just want to just train but are told it's a boxing gym so you spar. If you don't want to then go somewhere else like a gym.
My mate hated it at first but stuck it out and now really enjoys the sparring. As soon as you get used to getting hit it's ok.

SOA, go easy on the heavy bags to start with or you could get bad hand/wrist injuries. no doubt you'll be kept away from them anyway

Well... I say you will have to do it. I don't know obviously. Just from my experience sparring is part of it.

SOA The first time will fuck you up for sure..and that will be gentle by boxing club standards...ache in places you didn't know you had.
Stick with it though..and you'll love it...New energy..weight will fall off you and make new friends..all good stuff. Good luck

Sparring is THE best part of any martial arts-type training.
Frankie - you might be better off doing Tae Bo.

Any gym worth their won't have you anywhere near a ring or even a bag for a few sessions.
